The year was 1979 when the Southern Automotive Group opened its first location in the Hampton Roads area. Today, this massive conglomerate includes nine core dealerships consisting of ten brands of automobiles, two state-of-the-art Collision Centers, and over 500 employees on its payroll. The dealerships are comprised of Southern Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram-Greenbrier in Chesapeake (2 locations); Southern Buick GMC-Lynnhaven and Southern Kia-Lynnhaven in Virginia Beach; one of the Largest Volkswagen Marketplaces in America, Southern Volkswagen-Greenbrier in Chesapeake; Southern Buick GMC-Greenbrier and Southern Kia-Greenbrier in Chesapeake; Southern Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram FIAT and Southern Alfa Romeo near the Norfolk Airport. Plus our 2 Collision Centers: Southern Collision Center-Greenbrier in Chesapeake, Virginia and Southern Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram Collision Center in Norfolk, Virginia. In 2011, the Auto Group decided to change all their dealerships’ names to Southern (as indicated above). Still the same dealerships…same service…same management…just under a different name…Southern.
